Fundraising is often one of the most challenging areas of work for non-profits. This problem
gets
further magnified for communities that are typically neglected due to their extreme
vulnerability or marginalization. Additionally, it is a well-known fact that urban areas end up
getting most funding due to ease of access. Our aim is to partner with organizations to route
Zakat to the most marginalized communities that typically do not have access to the funds and
will take longer to demonstrate long-term impact.
Multi-generational poverty is a result of years of being poor and having lack of access to funds
and other resources. Thus, we believe that it will take years to help people break out of this
cycle and are committed to long-term impact.
Zakat is intended to make the recipient of the funds, the owner and decision maker of how the
funds should be utilized. Recently, in philanthropy, a lot of conversations are centered around
trust-based, flexible giving. It is interesting to see how one of the age-old practices of Zakat
is
currently trending in philanthropy.
We will continue to search for innovative solutions to help get maximum value and impact of
the zakat funds through partnerships.
We are very excited to share our first utilization report – July 2022 to March 2024. Click here to read the report.
